Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

We do allow registered aid animals such as guide dogs on request. However, none of our Wildlife Parks (Sanparks) allow pets at all. This is the case at all Wildlife parks in Southern Africa.
Even though the credit card makes it very easy to pay your deposit, it is not necessary to have a credit card when you book with us.

We are perfectly happy to accept the deposit via an Electronic Transfer.

However, on day of collection of your vehicle, you will have to have a Visa or MasterCard credit card in order for us to reserve funds.

The quotation is valid for 14 days after the date of issue. Our booking officer will follow up with you regularly before the expiration date.
If the pick-up or drop-off location is in Upington, we will collect you from the airport or hotel free of charge. We charge R8.00 per Km for transfers outside Upington (If further than 20 Km.). However, vehicles can be collected or dropped off in most areas in Southern Africa at an additional charge. Please communicate with one of our Consultants for accurate delivery and/or collection fees if not at our official Depo in Upington.
It is law in South Africa that all licenses must be in English. If your license is not in English an English International license will be required.
Absolutely, but you need to confirm to us that you need more time. Each quote will be handled separately based on our other potential clients waiting in line.
You need to confirm that you accept the quote by replying to the e-mail and pay your deposit as soon as possible (within the validity period of the quote).

Please remember to use your booking number as reference.

We accept any of the following credit cards when you collect your vehicle in South Africa: MasterCard Credit card or a Visa Credit Card. EFT is also acceptable in South Africa for the initial deposit for booking. No Cheque or Debit cards will be accepted.

We do not accept Diners or American express credit cards, we only accept Visa or MasterCard credit cards.

We require a 25% payment to confirm any rental. The 75% balance must be paid two weeks/14 days prior to collection of the vehicle. If you book your vehicle less than two weeks prior to collection we require the full amount for confirmation. However, during the period of the Corona pandemic we recognize the increased uncertainty that COVID-19 may be causing in your own trip planning. To help you book with confidence, we are offering an exceptional cancellation policy: Until the situation has stabilized, we will be offering the option of a 100% refund on all new bookings made after March 15, 2020, for cancellations made more than 7 days prior to a tour.

We charge per calendar day meaning each date is a full day’s charge. However, if you drop your vehicle before 10:00 AM, the drop-off day will not be charged.

3 Days is our minimum.

If you can drive in your country and have a valid unendorsed driver’s license.

During the period of the Corona pandemic we recognize the increased uncertainty that COVID-19 may be causing in your own trip planning. To help you book with confidence, we are offering an exceptional cancellation policy: Until the situation has stabilized, we will be offering the option of a 100% refund on all new bookings made after March 15, 2020, for cancellations made more than 7 days prior to a tour. However, during normal post Corona Pandemic period, we at UDRIVE4X4 still understand that things do not always go according to plan. We do however need to charge cancellation fees if you are unable to make the rental. Depending on the notice period you will be refunded as follows:
60 Days’ Notice – 5% Admin Charge will be charged
59 – 45 Days’ notice – 90% Refund on amount paid
44 – 31 Days’ notice – 80% Refund on amount paid
30 Days or less – 50 % Refund on amount paid
15 Days or less – 75 % Refund on amount paid
6 Days of less – 5% Refund on amount paid

If there is availability for the new dates and enough notice for the terminated date, we can change the dates without penalty and move the deposit to a different date. The vehicle in this case may differ and if needed different options of vehicles will be provided. Each scenario is different and will be treated individually.
The deposit is paid to secure the vehicle. A security amount is due according to the insurance option chosen. This amount will be kept safely until the vehicle is returned.

The Security Bond will be utilized to pay for any genuine expenses pertaining to the rental (i.e. Damages to camping equipment, tyres, windscreens, refilling of fuel, speed fines, traffic violations, etc.) and will always respond to what you expected (No Surprises Policy).

The Security Bond is refundable between 21 and 30 business days after the rental has ended. A further 4-7 days should be allowed for the funds to clear on your side.

This period is to allow for a mechanical inspection and fines from the local authorities to reach us.

Our refund officer will send you an e-mail to the address we have on file when the deposit becomes due. It will contain information about your rental, any deduction and any refunds (if applicable).

You need to reply to this e-mail if you are in agreement with the amount (or if not and why) and confirm that the credit card used for the initial deposit payment is still the same.

The deposit will always be refunded in the same way the deposit was paid. If you paid online, the refund will also be done online to the same card/person it came from.
